Rising T

Signs

The Tharsis region of Mars, the next planet out from the sun, has a notable geographical formation, large enough to be viewed from Earth with a decent telescope.

Four mountains - Olympus Mons, Pavonis Mons, Ascraeus Mons & Arsia Mons -  form a distinct capital T.  The T, Mars Cross, is marked by a nearly 5000-km long rent in the planet - Valles Marineris bears a few degrees off from the perpendicular of the T.

Equal bisection from a line connecting the two points making up the arms of the T give pause. Signs of life?

The whole formation revolves around the equator, head first - rising T.  Symbol for resurrection?

Crux Commissa - Tau Cross

Is it a cross, one wonders? Wikipedia describes the original form of crucifixion during the time that Jesus walked as being the Crux Commissa - like a capital T.

The Crux Commissa was a single log posted into the ground vertically with another beam sitting on top. Likely a nail was driven through the top to stabilize, easier than carving a more complex cross with recesses cut into the bark to prevent wobbling. The traditional cross, the minuscule t, was used later possibly, perhaps in the time of Constantine.

Constantine, it is rumoured, saw a sword in the sky, then heard a voice, “in this sign conquer”.

Could it have been mishandled, to mean an unsanctioned command to kill? Oddly Christ said rather, “if my kingdom were of this world, then would my disciples fight” (John 18:36).

Seeking Patterns

At the head of the Mars Cross is Pavonis Mons. 1500 km to the West and to the North, at the foot, is Olympus Mons, three times as tall as Mount Everest. Carl Sagan predicted the solar system’s tallest mountains would be on Mars owing to low gravity.

On the North side of Mars Cross is Ascraeus Mons. 1500 km off towards the South and to West a bit, Arsia Mons.

Mars T

Pavonis Mons greets, a few hundred km to the east, Valles Marineris. If one wanted something to explore with a rover one might start with the mouths of these mountains. What's inside?

It's of note that the 4th planet - Mars - has a cross made of 4 mountains near the equator. Let's see if there is a pattern here…
